Lisa and Jack’s reception was probably the most fun I have ever had. lots of dancing, laughing, fun, and special moments.

it must be said…Jack’s mom is a pretty smooth dancer…

one of the guests at the wedding asked me if i ever get tired of shooting and seeing ceremonies in general. and i answered…emphatically, respectfully….NO WAY. every wedding, every couple, ever moment is completely unique and new to me. it never gets old or loses its feeling of emotion…ever. and one thing that really touched me about Jack and Lisa’s wedding was the sense of family and friend connection. everyone there had a unique sense of love for the couple, and a binding unity…

i met Katie and Erik the day after Thanksgiving at the Empire Grill, a quintessential Maine diner that makes me feel like i am back in my small coastal town …i can hear the comfortable conversation before i sit in a booth, and the coffee is always good, and even if it isn’t, it doesn’t matter. the company is good. and that is how i felt when i first met this couple. just pure comfort and a familiar humor. last week we met up on a day threatening rain, but we were blessed with beautiful morning fog over Kennebunkport instead. there is less than a month until their special day and i just cannot wait!

there is only one page left to write on. i will fill it with words of only one syllable. i love. i have loved. i will love.

don’t get me wrong…i just love photographing and being a part of wedding ceremonies. every detail is just so well thought out by my couples, and every emotion is real and raw and beautiful. but, what i love most is getting to see them have fun after months and months of planning and saving and more planning, and spending. the reception just yields a relaxed atmosphere of it’s own…still with tradition, but also with a breadth of creativity and joy. Caroline thought of every, single detail…even for the reception. her cake was a masterpiece by Sweet Sensations, and matched her theme perfectly.

if you have been watching this blog a while, you know i have a distinct obsession with 2 things. the color pink, and shoes. and Caroline brought me both….

Caroline’s dress was the princess dress fantacy of every little girl and grown up girl alike, but perhaps the most heavy one also. it was a hot day, even with the soft breezes coming of the harbor…but Caroline and the dress held up beautifully.

i met the bride and bridesmaids in the beautiful Camden Amputhere before the ceremony…

the only other girl more important than the bride herself is, of course, the flower girl. and she took her job VERY seriously…

don’t get me wrong…i love light houses. i do. and Portland Head Light is really stunning…while it’s rare that it isn’t fogged in, or misty, it is always pretty. but really, for me personally, going to the Portland Head Light pales in comparison to what is right on the same grounds, and that is Fort Williams. with its neat structures and history, it is a rich photographic opportunity. Dana and Danielle are one of my September couples and they were so fun and up for anything…just a truly gorgeous pair inside and out.

i woke up to the sound of pounding rain against my roof on Saturday morning, and as usual, the perpetually willful leak in my mudroom. having shot almost my entire last wedding season in the pouring rain, i wasn’t worried, but i will admit, i was a bit disappointed. Georgie and Andrew and i met this past winter in a Starbucks in Portland to discuss their wedding, and when the worlds “vineyard” came out of Georgie’s mouth, i am not sure i heard much of anything else for a good five minutes. her description of Flag Hill Winery in Lee, New Hampshire sounded like my fantasy venue, and the rain on Saturday morning dampened my spirits a bit quite literally. i packed the car and headed out early, and as i drove down interstate 95 the rain stopped, the fog lifted, and the sun unveiled itself to reveal a truly beautiful day.

thank goodness.

we started out the day at the beautiful Wingate Spa and their grounds were amazing

the guys were just up the road having a cook out and getting ready…

while i did mention the sun came out, i did not mention that it was 95 degrees with a chance of severe thunderstorms and {gulp} a tornado.

still, Georgianna definitely kept her cool beautifully…i am always in awe of my amazing brides.

Andrew and Georgie opted to see each other before the ceremony, and i just love it when my couples choose this.

it is so intimate and personal, and it allows for almost immediate fun right after the ceremony.

getting on a very large, very high ladder. all in a days work for this girl.

Sophie and Penny, Andrew’s dog and Georgie’s cat, were also a big part of the ceremony…without even being in attendance…

Georgie’s sister sang for the couples first dance, and her dad composed a classical piece for their father/daughter dance.

i can’t think of a better way to start of my week than looking at these pictures of my beautiful couple Brandon and Lindsey, who are getting ready for their wedding this September. last thursday we met up at the Hamilton House in Berwick, a stunning homestead built by a shipping merchant in 1785. it looks as if it is right out of the pages of Gone with the Wind…magical! the light was perfect, as was Lindsey and Brandon of course, and it was just a great night. they even climbed in the tree for me! i love it when my couples get adventurous.

saturday was my first wedding of the season…after a long winter of anticipation, excitement….out of my mind nervousness {i’ll admit it…i get so nervous…my poor family and friends}, the day was finally here. and when i saw the sun at 5:18am as i was heading out the door, i was already feeling better about the day. it was a day perfect for shooting. a little hazy, no bright sun, but still warm and glowing.

Jordyn’s dress is so timeless and antique looking. by far, my favorite dress of any wedding ever.

we were probably on the most amazing piece of property in new hampshire. i couldn’t have chosen a better location if i picked it myself. and all of Jordyn’s bridesmaids are  just as sweet and amazing and beautiful as she is, and they just added to what was already an great day.

they ceremony was in an absolutely stunning church. what i could not get over was the pure joy on everyone’s faces…so happy to see these two get married and join together.

the groomsman are all brothers…and they have all gotten married in the last 2.5 years…

apparently i am not the only one who loves cake.

not only is Jordyn’s dad an amazing dancer, but wow…can he sing! just amazing music from his band. everyone was dancing.

yup…happens to everyone when you dance too much in those pretty shoes. poor sweety!

i have to admit…i fell in love with this amazing couple at first sight at our meeting last fall. perhaps it is their tender sincerity towards each other, or the comfortable sweetness that is so evident when they are together. i can’t help but feel attached to my couples…especially when they are as beautiful and genuine as Sam and Tim. I just cannot wait for the wedding this summer!
