People ask a lot how I got started photographing weddings and how I have maintained progressive growth as a small business in a struggling economy. I always say the truth…I fell into the right group of girls at the right time and got very lucky that they all passed on my name, and after they passed on my name and got married, they all had babies, and its been busy ever since. But really, it all started with one family. . . Madeline’s family. And after photographing her sister Caitlin’s wedding, and then her sister Lindsey’s wedding, and many weddings of their good friends and acquaintances, I couldn’t let a chance slip by to photograph yet another member of this amazing family. So while I only pick up senior sessions once in a while when I have time, I signed up for this one over a year ago.

Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it…Andy Rooney

dear client, perspective client, blog reader, friend, passer-by….human being;
love always. me.
…
it’s not what you wear that is important to your session….it’s not your shoes….your make up. it’s you. fabulous, wonderful, perfect in non-perfect form…you.
that is expecting a lot though, isn’t it? being you?
i find children facinating because they are comfortable in their own self. that is what led me most to photographing children. their honesty. if they are sad, you know. if they are happy, you know. if they want a piece of cake, you know.
i know i ask a lot of adults when they come to me and i tell them to show their love in front of the camera. it IS difficult to forget those inhibitions that are painted on like layers as we move through our lives. i have them too. actually, i have them all. haha.
but maybe, just maybe, if you know what inspires me most in the whole wide world is YOU, that will make it a bit easier.
{and yes, if being you is wearing your old pair of roller skates and barreling through the Old Port, that is completely okay}

and this is good stuff…you should watch it.
My last senior session could not have ended with a nicer girl. It was a perfect night, after being fooled by the ‘hurricane’ that never showed up this past weekend. I have been so lucky with all of my girls this year…they are all incredible people, and simply beautiful inside and out.

I had a DREAM session last night with twins, Chelsea and Trisha. The light was perfect, and they were so fun and up for anything. Sometimes you just can’t wait to get home and see the pictures after a session, and this was definitely one of those times. I stayed up late picking my ultimate favs for their sneak peak today…and there were so many…it was hard to choose.

sigh….arn’t they gorgeous! what a lucky mom…

Can you tell I have had a busy week with my senior girls? I think the senior rush is just about over for me, but of course, their journey is just beginning. I met up with McKenzie last Tuesday night and had such a great time. I am sure this girl is destined for success no matter what she chooses to do.
