truth. the next best thing to having your own baby is getting to be around them all the time. truth. it still isn’t easy to leave at the end of the session. and little Owen was so preciously perfect it made my depart bitter sweet. at almost 2 weeks old, he was the perfect little sleeper. i was mesmerized by his long toes and fingers, and how every little baby noise he was simply amazing {you know those sweet little semi-sleeping squeaks…sigh}. we had an awesome session and i just could not help but share a few this monday morning.

on a business note, my newborn casting call is currently full and i can’t thank those of you enough who have participated, or have yet to. i hope to reopen another for an older age group this summer when the weather is balmy and the light is golden, so stay tuned to the blog for that around June!

my welcome home present….this beautiful canvas of Brian and Melissa custom wrapped by Roxanne and Company at Pixel 2 Canvas. after trying several canvas companies, i have finally found my home at Pixel 2 Canvas, a company that caters exclusively to professional photographers and just creates the most magical printed canvas i have ever seen.  my advice to clients wanting a canvas… GO BIG!! this is a true investment in your personal history that will last a lifetime. Brian and Mel chose the 20 x 30….and honestly it has inspired me to think bigger for my own home gallery.

well….i have spend the last year trying to find what works best for me as far as coffee table books and i have finally found it. the pictures really do no such justice to the stunning quality of this album. ultra thick pages, beautiful color, and just an over all luxurious feel.

for clients who purchase albums, i offer a slideshow so they can view it directly on their computer or tv and check out every little detail of their book and photographs before ordering.

i had the privilege of photographing Emery and her parents on Saturday, and i think it might have been more fun for me than for them! this 6 month old on the move just dazzled me with her love for the camera and her willingness to pose. honestly, it was as if she were born to be a photographers child. i was spoiled by her laughter and eye contact. thank you, Miss Emery B. for being your magnificent self.

i am beyond excited to be starting off the new year with the birth (pun intended) of a project i have been waiting two years to start. and this year, finally, i have left not only time, but energy to devote to a more specialized area of artistic photography.

taking a blog break for the next month to enjoy my friends and family over the holidays. honestly, after a busy season i am looking forward to throwing myself into domestic bliss.

just some biz notes before i go:

*if you have scheduled an appointment for 2010 but have not paid your deposit, please do asap. if i receive your deposit after january 1, 2010 you will be under the new pricing for 2010.

*as many people have asked,  i will tell you that i am not going to be having a sale this year on sessions and prints. i will, however, be looking for models for the rebuilding of my website and the model searches come with SO many goodies {free stuff…yay}, i am sure it will not disappoint. i will post those online as they come up. i will post the first one on January 2nd, 2010.

* i am fully booked for 2010 weddings. i am currently taking a list for 2011. i am humbled that this list is long.

*current clients: all orders expected in time for Christmas must be in and paid in full by December 15th if you want to receive them by December 24th.

*i will still be answering phone calls, photographing sessions, conducting business meetings,  processing orders, shipping orders out, working on the sessions i have left, etc, so do not hesitate to call me and save me from my children. in fact, you have my number…call me every couple of days to make sure they haven’t taken over the asylum.

*last but not least…thank you. thank you for sticking with me this year, leaving comments, or just stopping by to read. every reader makes my business a success, and it means so so much to me.

*also, i wasn’t joking about the phone calls.

ooooo…..tis the season for mailing out wedding packages to all of my stunning brides. getting prints, products, and albums in the mail is like Christmas EVERY DAY. for me, seeing it all come together is the greatest reward i get for all of the hard work. (i’m not tooting my own horn, but readers, it has it been a crazy summer, and these prints and products are like my babies).  but, alas, it is time to part with them and send them into the hands of my very deserving couples. this is the item that ALL of my brides receive with any package they choose. i always feel it is so important to put something physical in the hands of my clients. they too worked hard to save, plan, and design their wedding.all boxes are custom created and designed.

I will be out of the office until Thursday afternoon. I will not be reachable via email or phone. My precious Blackberry will most likely fail to transmit my desperate attempts to reach a civilized world. I am off to hang out with my girls, and the moose population of Maine.

Pictures and ramblings of random wildlife encounters when I return. The Wednesday Whistle will be posted on Thursday…so it will be the Thursday Turkey Telegram.

I met up with Jamie and Shane this weekend at the picturesque Coburn Park in Skowhegan, Maine.  It was the perfect spot to photograph this amazing couple. As most of you know…I really got my start in children’s photography. Adults are rarely themselves and natural in front of the camera…but Jamie and Shane were just…magical. I feel so blessed to be shooting their wedding in September.
