my welcome home present….this beautiful canvas of Brian and Melissa custom wrapped by Roxanne and Company at Pixel 2 Canvas. after trying several canvas companies, i have finally found my home at Pixel 2 Canvas, a company that caters exclusively to professional photographers and just creates the most magical printed canvas i have ever seen.  my advice to clients wanting a canvas… GO BIG!! this is a true investment in your personal history that will last a lifetime. Brian and Mel chose the 20 x 30….and honestly it has inspired me to think bigger for my own home gallery.

a little over a week ago {yes, i am terribly behind on editing AND blogging…i am catching up though} i met up with another one of my first clients EVER. i feel continually blessed to watch my famlies grow and evolve…its hard to believe that so much can happen in a years time for us all!

it was a chilly day, but we braved the corn maze and pumpkin patches to grasp onto some of Fall’s last breaths.

I had a wonderful session this past weekend with this adorable little bundle of love and his sweet parents. He was a perfect sleeping prince for almost the whole time, and I was just amazed at how wonderfully relaxed he was during the entire shoot. This is how I wish every newborn session unfolded. He was so heavenly I had all I could do to not pack him up in the car with the rest of my stuff. Newborns are definetly a job hazard in this industry…every time I photograph one now, I think that perhaps its possible for me to handle just ONE more.

Goodnight you moonlight ladies
Rockabye sweet baby James
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose
Wont you let me go down in my dreams
And rockabye sweet baby James.

There are few things more exciting in life that bringing home a new little one.

Little James actually belongs to one my very first clients ever, so it was a homecoming of sorts too.

I am sure you remember this sweet girl with the beautiful red hair…Miss Sophie.

…she truly is embracing becoming a big sister.

Its a hard job.

Daily Mantra:

“We waste time looking for the perfect lover, instead of creating the perfect love.”

I feel we are all too close to lie. The truth is….{brace.yourselves}….I fall in love ALL the time. I do. Maybe not the love in the romantic sense you are thinking of {only college was an exception to that…because then I really WAS in love all the time romantically…but I was young, and had moved from a small town to a place with way too many boys…come to think of it, I am really thinking about sending the girls to an all girl college…I digress…you get it, I was boy crazy}. I fall in love with people because they are amazing. If you have ever spent an hour in a book store coffee shop {I highly recommend Borders} you will see what I mean by “love”. In one hour of semi-people stalking, you will find yourself pleasently surprised at how beautiful people are. They walk carefully, talk with their {mother, son, daughter, wife, husband, father, friend}quietly and with peace…like it’s a holy place…this place with books and other soft walkers. They browse for magazines I have never heard of, speak in languages I will never understand, and read newspapers that have an unreasonable size and girth.  The combination of teenage fruity body spray, and grandpa’s spicy aftershave saturate the air and dance on the coattails of a passing toddler or a busy attendent rushing by to wipe tables. People contain a magic all on their own without  tricks, or bunnies popping from hats, or special wands with sparkles and glitter.

I love the little, weird nuances that people have…the ticks, or the way they run fingers through their hair. I love that when you are really looking, you can still find genuine and random acts of kindness among people who don’t know each other, even if it’s just a gentle nod to say “Hi…you are a member of the human race and I acknowledge that we have met eye contact”.

Love is the half smile of perfect stranger walking past you in book store coffee shop…who doesn’t even know you, but knew that you were worthy a quirky half smile anyway.

A new adventure today with Miss Katie…

I have been scoping this old cattle farm for months, looking for signs of human inhabitants. Today I packed Katie

in the stroller and we headed out of our safe little subdivision to go check it out. The fog breathed a heavy film

over the snow barricaded structures…semi scary movie. {I am still afraid of the dark at 28 years old, but I love scary movies}.

This will be a great place for spring and summer visits…surrounded by beautiful open fields and the bubbling river on the cusp of the property.

For now…its just creepy.
