dear mikki and katie…
i remember Mrs. Callahan’s brown, holey sweater. i remember the the feel of it on my cheek when she would walk up beside me and give me a quick squeeze; scratchy, but comforting all in the same way. i remember crayons and cubbies and sitting next to my best friend in the whole wide world, Amy, and watching the caterpillar transform into the butterfly. kindergarten was magical…perhaps the way the aromas of finger paints, construction paper, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in lunch bags all combined, or perhaps it was just because learning was fun then…not work. i loved watching you get on the bus today, mikki…off to new adventures, off to play and make friends, and off to creating your own amazing self. i was sad for a minute too…just a minute…until i realized that this is what its all about. growing up, getting on a big yellow bus, and leaving mom’s side. this stop kindergarten, next stop…the world.
love you my darlings,
