Renovating a house has brought about many an epiphany. First, it is the realization that I am blatantly awful at hammering anything other than mid air, and the very tip of my thumb. Seriously….if I had actually hit a nail on the head every time I was supposed to, we might be moved in by now. Second, appliances in any other color than white cost 2 times more, and actually do 2 times less. Finally, if you want something done right, hire a professional, not some hack, photographer/mom who thinks that she can do it just because she say it done on TV. (no really, sheet rocking is an art…not something to learn from the boob tube…take my word for it).

Becky (finsup) - You crack me up! I'm with you--I can't do anything handy. What a perfect photo to illustrate your feeling! Ironically enough, I have two roofers from Rumford up on my roof right now. Not only are they professionals, they're HAWT!

Pat - Oh, the drama!!! I love this shot, and then laughed out loud as I read your post, followed by the perfect mantra! My philosophy has always been to hire someone. It's cheaper that way that paying someone to fix the work you paid yourself to do. Good luck!!! Remember, on TV they are pros, and have tons of help off-camera, just like Martha.

Brenda - Bummer for one of those days. We okay by we I mean me and sometimes the kids just finished repairing our home from all the flood damage in July. My dh usually does it all but he is away at work. Boy does it feel good when its done.
